Director of Sales

We are expanding our development and sales team and have an immediate opening for a Director of Sales to be ideally located in either the New York or Los Angeles area.  As part of SeaWell’s sales team you are a new business hunter, with the drive to succeed and win opportunities that will make a significant contribution to SeaWell’s growth.  An ideal candidate would have cut his or her teeth as a technical contributor to the selling process as a sales/solutions engineer or post-sales support engineer, but now has had direct account management responsibility for the past several years. You are very familiar with selling video delivery over IP technology into video content providers, CDNs, and media companies and have a strong technology background that makes you comfortable selling both to technical teams and to C-level decision makers.

This position reports to the Vice President of Business Development and the ideal candidate is located on the West Coast (primarily LA or SF).

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement, and execute an effective strategic sales plan complete with quarterly and annual sales targets.
  • Account prospecting (a hunter), focusing on SeaWell’s core markets and targeted customer base, but with a strategic sense to pursue high potential tangent markets.
  • Conducting research on potential customers using available information, referrals, industry experience and contacts.
  • Position and differentiate SeaWell’s solution capabilities & value proposition relative to market requirements competitor offerings.
  • Create individual account plans, develop proactive proposals and prepare responses to customer RFP/RFQs.
  • Monitor industry trends and quickly adapt to changing market conditions
  • Understand customer needs in the short and long term – feeding requirements back to product management teams.
  • Manage customer expectations in line with the value proposition offered by SeaWell.
  • Maintain account records and sales funnel information and provide sales activity reports to management as requested.
  • Working closely with the Product Management and R&D teams, conduct post-sales activity to foster long-term customer loyalty and future business.

Requirements:

  • Along with strong technical work experience within the video delivery over IP technology, 5+ years of corporate sales or account management experience in selling technology-based solutions to content owners and content delivery networks within North America.
  • Experience with multiple level selling into an organization – from technical teams, business managers through to C-level.
  • A self-motivated, proactive and innovative sales hunter with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain a strong sales funnel.
  • A proven track record of consistent quota achievement with a demonstrated ability to achieve results while operating under minimal supervision.
  • Exemplary and ethical decision-making skills
  • Strong skills in time management, written & verbal communication, and presentations (oral and MS PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong focus on tracking and reporting on sales activities.
  • Superior inter-personal skills and proven team player abilities.
  • Must be able to travel extensively
